Gideon has finally released the latest firmware 1.6, and as of now it is Open Source !

I'm not sure why this is supposed to be 'funny', but "the hardware still needs to be documented" still puts me off. Reverse engineering is nice hacking activity, but a great waste of effort to learn something... I think Gideon was offended when I told him I threw my 1541 Ultimate in the trash. 8)

I just couldn't bring myself to use it, because the incredibly annoying scroller was so incredibly annoying. I know it can be turned off now, but I also heard the updates are bricking the cart, so that doesn't make me want to try an update. Maybe I'll check it out in 2012 or so. :P

Really in the bin !!, i hope this was only in jest. :) :( ?

I use my 1541U almost every time i turn my c64 on.

Their working on a SCPU emulator based on the 1541U hardware ? :).

Next to the RR/RRnet this is my favorite piece of hardware.

1541U+E whats the E stand for oh wait Ethernet yep right.

Anyone bought a Ethernet version is there problems with it ?.

There were problems with the Ethernet, but is seems way more stable with firmware 1.6. At current the freezer still needs work.
