There's so much new hardware addons being produced for our commies these days that it's hard to keep up. When I started this forum back in 2004 (anyone remember rrforum.ath.cx?) Retro Replay and later on MMC64 were about the only new gadgets I was aware of for C64/128 (except some long runners like IDE64 and some more or less obscure projects) that were available for purchase and supported by their vendors (well, more or less). The past 5-6 years there has been a litteral Hardware explosion. NB, that I'm only talking about commercial, complete and supported products here!

So why am I ranting about this? Wouldn't it be neat to collect and share all new, cool toys in one place? Yes it would! To narrow it down a bit, please stick to the following simple rule:

Product must be available for purchase (unless temporary out of stock) or if it's a new product that has not been released yet, there must be an info web page that has been updated within the past 6 months (or else it's considered dead).

Edit: Oh, and just ONE product per POST (multiple posts are OK!)

Edit2: To keep this thread nice and clean, please keep discussions in separate threads.

Easy huh? Ok, fire away guys :)

Everybody knows it! 1541 Ultimate cartridge for C64 and C128, offers full 1541 emulation, REU and more. Perhaps the most successful modern C64/128 addon?

Chameleon - The End All Solution for C64? It's all about emulation these days. Still in Beta stage but available for purchase. Started as a VGA adapter and ended as a monster. The feature set is impressive to say the least and too long to be posted here.

Alien Flash - I found out about this one today. It looks like a EasyFlash (already covered on the forum) on steroids:

  • 16MB flash memory (16 x EasyFlash)
  • 32KB SRAM (4 banks each 8KB)
  • USB connector for direct connection PC ←→ C64 (for example D64 transfer)

Web-site complete with loads of Windows software and YouTube demo videos.

RR-Net compatible Ethernet cartridge for C64/128. Once sparked to life here on Retrohackers after a decaying project originally by Till Harbaum and has undergone several generations of metamorphosis. Now alive and prospering, being produced by Brain Innovations. Available from various vendors I believe.
